The Ministry of Digital Transformation and LUN.Misto have signed a memorandum for collaborative work on an internet map during prolonged power outages. The map will contain data on providers that offer internet connectivity during outages lasting up to 72 hours. The project will soon be available for residents of Kyiv.
"Telecom companies are actively transitioning to blackout-resistant technologies and backup power sources to keep people online during extended blackouts of up to 3 days. We continue to work with partners to create an internet outage map. Ukrainians will be able to easily locate such providers in their area and maintain connectivity," stated Valeriia Ionan, Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation for European Integration.
On the map, Ukrainians will be able to find the nearest internet provider that has adopted energy-efficient networks using xPON technology. They can instantly access contact details and, if needed, submit a connection request. The map will be regularly updated and supplemented with information about companies utilizing xPON technology.
Additionally, they will inform people about various technologies that enable them to stay online without electricity and their operating durations.
