Naftogaz concludes a series of agreements in Berlin, including those aimed at decarbonizing Ukrainian energy. This was announced by the head of the Naftogaz board, Oleksiy Chernyshov.
According to him, Naftogaz's interests cover several areas: cooperation in equipment, transportation, and storage of hydrogen, as well as the development of decarbonization strategies.
"We must not only care about the present but also believe in Victory and start building a new energy system now, one that envisions a decarbonized foundation. We are already starting this. Before the conference on June 10, we signed a relevant agreement with the European Investment Bank. Today (June 11), agreements with Siemens and other companies are planned," Chernyshov said.
He noted that Ukraine needs to restore energy supply due to a huge deficit of electricity. In these conditions, the state is supporting electricity generation using the Gas-to-Power system, i.e., electricity generation from gas. In this situation, the country will need larger volumes of gas to support this.
Naftogaz is ready for such a scenario. The company guarantees to provide Ukraine and Ukrainians with additional gas volumes to support energy generation. That's what we are working on right now," the CEO emphasized.
Chernyshov stressed that conferences on recovery are critical for the development of our state both during and after the war. This conference will not be the last, he added.
The head of Naftogaz also emphasized the role of Germany, a country "without which the future of Ukraine is impossible."
"The support and role of Germany in the reconstruction and, most importantly, in supporting reforms in our state are crucial," Chernyshov said.
According to him, Germany represents not only large energy companies but also technological companies and engineering — things that are essential for the reconstruction of our country.
