On the night of December 21, 2023, Russians launched an attack with strike UAVs of the 'Shahed' type from three directions: Chauda – temporarily occupied Crimea; Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Kursk – Russian Federation.
A total of 35 'Shahed-136/131' launches were recorded, attacking in waves at various times, from 20:00 on December 20 to 03:30 on December 21.
Tactical aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and other components of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were involved in repelling the air raid.
This night, sky defenders shot down 34 out of 35 strike UAVs launched on different directions.
Air defense operated in the Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Khmelnytskyi, Sumy, Poltava, Chernihiv, and Kirovohrad regions.
The head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, Ruslan Kravchenko, wrote that as a result of the attack on a civilian enterprise, a fire broke out due to falling debris.
'Broken windows and damaged walls of a 4-story building and 2 warehouse buildings located nearby. Eight cars were damaged,' the statement said.
Preliminarily, no injuries were reported.
The head of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, Igor Taburets, reported that 4 enemy drones were shot down in the region using air defense systems, including in Cherkasy, Zolotonosha, and Zvenyhorodka districts.
'According to preliminary information, as a result of falling debris, we have minor consequences: several outbuildings were damaged, and the roof of a residential building was affected,' said the head of the regional administration.
"The debris of the downed UAV damaged a warehouse building of an agricultural enterprise in Mykolaivskyi district," the statement from the Southern Defense Forces reads.
It notes that a fire occurred, which emergency services promptly extinguished. No injuries were reported.
