Despite not being the largest economy in the world, Norway is a leader in the amount of aid it provides to Ukraine: this year, its contribution will exceed €7 billion.

This was stated on Thursday in Norway during a joint press conference with the country’s Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

"Norway provides truly impressive support to Ukraine. You have doubled this aid in 2025, and the total commitment for the current year exceeds €7 billion. We are talking specifically about Norway, which is undoubtedly a large country, but compared to some other economies, it does not rank in the top twenty. Yet you really lead the way. Countries like Denmark or Germany also do a lot (for Ukraine – ed.). But Norway really ranks very high in these efforts," emphasized the Alliance leader.

He also thanked Norway for direct investments in the development of Ukraine’s military-industrial base. According to Rutte, this contribution is very important for Ukraine to receive everything it needs to stand firm in the fight against Russian aggression.

"This is important because Ukraine must win. When this war ends, we must avoid a situation comparable to the 'Minsk' of 2014. The peace must be lasting and sustainable so that Vladimir Putin never attempts to attack Ukraine again. Norway’s contribution to this is very significant, and I thank you for it," added Rutte.
