Norway has joined the coalition for Ukraine's air defense against Russian aircraft and missiles.
This was reported by the press service of the Norwegian government.
"Norway is joining the letter of intent to support Ukraine in the field of air defense against aircraft and missiles. Air defense is one of the areas that receives special attention among countries providing military support to Ukraine," the statement said.
Norwegian Minister of Defense Bjørn Arild Gram stated that it is natural for Oslo to be part of such a coalition for air defense.
"The Norwegian NASAMS contributes daily to saving Ukrainian lives and protecting critical infrastructure," he emphasized.
This winter, several coalitions have been formed to provide military support to Ukraine. The government has decided on Norway's participation in three such coalitions: the maritime coalition, which Norway co-leads with Great Britain; the F-16 coalition, under which Norway will provide F-16 fighter jets and train Ukrainian personnel in their operation; and the air defense coalition led by Germany and France.
