Norway will transfer spare parts for Sea King helicopters to Ukraine to support the operation and maintenance of helicopters provided by Germany. This was announced by Norway's Minister of Defense, Bjørn Arild Gram, citing the Ministry of Defense's press service.
"As co-chair of the Coalition for Maritime Potential, Norway will provide spare parts for Sea King helicopters to help support the operation and maintenance of helicopters transferred to Ukraine by Germany," he stated.
Sea King helicopters are an older type, and finding spare parts can be challenging. They were in service with Norway from 1973 until 2023, when they were replaced by SAR Queen helicopters. Norwegian Sea Kings have reached their maximum flight hours and cannot be gifted directly.
Germany has decided to gift six Sea Kings to Ukraine, while the United Kingdom plans to gift three. Norway will provide spare parts for up to six of the helicopters transferred by Germany.
