Since the beginning of June 2024, almost 250 tons of honey from the Odessa region have been exported to the United States. The honey has undergone a thorough inspection and received the necessary documents from the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection at the state border. This was reported by the Odessa Regional Administration.

It is worth noting that the Register of Apiary Passports of the Odessa region includes 3173 apiaries, which amount to 174,482 bee colonies. In addition, there are 8 registered commercial entities in the region that produce homogenized honey. Of these, 7 are authorized to export the product abroad.

The regional state administration reminded that starting from November 30, 2024, honey and other bee products intended for human consumption can be imported into the EU only if they are sent, received and/or produced in those production facilities listed by the competent authority of the exporting country.

Along with honey, there is another Ukrainian product that is highly valued abroad with a high growth in exports: snails.

Snail trade is developing rapidly in the Odessa region. Local farmers produce not only delicious snail meat, but also create gastronomic specialties in various sauces. In the first five months of 2024, Ukraine exported 447 tons of mollusks, which is 56% more than in the same period of 2023.
