Odessa Region Foreign Trade Hits $1 Billion in H1 2024, Exports Up 4.2%

Foreign trade in the Odessa region for the first half of 2024 amounted to nearly $1 billion, with a growth rate of 4.2%.

The largest exports were plant-based products: cereals, seeds, and oilseeds (51.7%), animal and vegetable fats and oils (25.2%), and prepared food products (10.2%).

Odessa remains a leading region in shaping the country's export potential in sunflower oil trade, accounting for about 10% of global export volumes. Many food products produced in Odessa, including wine and brandy, various fish and vegetable preserves, honey, flour, juices, and baby food, can be found in over 100 countries worldwide.

Imports in the region for the first half of 2024 totaled $1.3 billion, a 25% increase compared to the same period in 2023. This primarily includes mineral fuels, oil and oil products, passenger cars, motorcycles, agricultural machinery, spare parts, and components.

Manufacturers in the Odessa region collaborate with trading partners from 155 countries worldwide. The European Union remains a key partner for the region, with external trade turnover with EU countries reaching $853 million over the first six months of 2024. Reliable partners among EU countries include Romania, Spain, Italy, Poland, Germany, Greece, Bulgaria, and the Netherlands.
