Previously made forecasts about the end of the war by the summer, he considers already outdated.
The hot phase of the war in Ukraine may end by autumn, if all circumstances turn out most successful. This was stated by military expert Oleg Zhdanov, answering questions from his subscribers on Youtube.
In his opinion, earlier forecasts that the Armed Forces of Ukraine could reach the borders of 1991 by the summer are no longer relevant. Zhdanov noted that Western arms shipments, while on the rise of late, are still not enough to launch a major Ukrainian offensive right now.
Because of this, Russia had time to form new strike groups instead of those previously defeated in battle. Now Ukraine will first have to repel a new offensive of the aggressor and move on to its counter-offensive.
âGod bless we finish the defensive operation by the beginning of summer. And already summer can be regrouping and the beginning of a counter-offensive operation. And the end of summer and the beginning of autumn will be with a possible exit to the borders of 1991,â Zhdanov believes.
At the same time, he stressed that this would be the most optimistic scenario, which is based on the condition that the Russian Federation will suffer heavy losses during its offensive and will not be able to conduct a new mobilization, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine will retain most of the reserves during defense and receive additional equipment from the West.
In a different scenario, the timing of the end of the war will shift "toward the winter of 2023."
