Russia has deployed Iskander and S-400 missile systems on the territory of Belarus. At the same time, the Russians are deploying S-300 systems to the Donbas to strike not only at the infrastructure but also at the positions of the Ukrainian military.
Military expert Oleg Zhdanov assessed the threat of a second offensive by Russian troops on Kyiv from Belarus.
Answering the question of whether Ukraine has enough strength to protect the capital from a new Russian invasion, the expert said that the border with Belarus has been turned into a "continuous fortified area."
"If they collect 100-200 thousand troops there, then we will discuss the threat of a second campaign against Kyiv. And even 20-30 thousand Russian-Belarusian troops are unlikely to be able to reach Kyiv today. Because today is not February 24. We have deployed defense forces, we have vast combat experience. And we are equipping our defense," Zhdanov said.
The expert does not believe that such a threat exists today.
"Hypothetically, it exists, but in practice, it is currently in its very, very embryonic state," he added.
