In unrecognized Transnistria, they really could have pulled the "Wagnerites" through the territory of Romania. But they pose a more significant threat to Moldova than to Ukraine.

This was stated by military expert Oleg Zhdanov, commenting on a possible attack by mercenaries on the Odessa region.

According to him, Ukraine is fully prepared for possible attacks from Transnistria. However, as of now, they are unlikely.

“There (in Transnistria) rallies began against the backdrop of tariff increases. It is quite possible that FSB workers, probably Wagner PMC mercenaries, were transferred there to provide fire support for the actions of provocateurs. This is all directed against Moldova. This is in no way directed against Ukraine. We have enough troops, we have strengthened borders with Moldova, in particular with Transnistria," Zhdanov said.

The expert recalled that the invaders did not leave Transnistria when there was a threat of landing. According to him, the Russians could attack from Transnistria if the main grouping of Russian troops reached Odessa.

Zhdanov added that there are up to 3,000 military personnel in Transnistria, but there is very few professional Russian military personnel.
