The Ukrainian defense industry grew sixfold in 2023. More than half of these capabilities have already been contracted.

This was reported by the Minister of Strategic Industries, Oleksandr Kamishin, at the "Ukraine. Year 2024" forum.

"Last year, our defense industry produced three times more than in 2022. Our capabilities for 2023 are six times greater than the previous year. We have about half of these capabilities already contracted for 2024. We are working together with the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces on further contracting," the minister stated.

He noted that the Ukrainian defense industry consists of around 500 enterprises engaged in designing, repairing, manufacturing, and servicing everything needed for the Ukrainian army. According to Kamishin, this includes approximately 400 private companies and 100 state-owned ones.

The Minister of Strategic Industries added that last year Ukraine increased the production of ammunition, with new items beginning to appear. This year, Ukraine is also increasing the production of shells.
