In the Bahmut region of Donetsk region, the enemy has significantly bolstered its forces and transitioned from a defensive stance to active operations, said Major General Oleksandr Syrskyi, the commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"The situation in the east remains complex. The enemy continues its attempts to achieve success and attacks our positions daily. They display particular activity in the Kupiansk area, attempting to advance on multiple fronts. In the Bahmut region, the enemy has significantly reinforced its grouping and switched from defense to active operations," Syrskyi stated in an interview with the Interfax-Ukraine news agency.

He noted that the Russians are attempting to halt the advancement of Ukrainian forces in the area and regain lost ground, utilizing airborne units. Additionally, on specific sections, they employ assault groups from the "Storm Z" units.

"The actions of the enemy are supported by heavy artillery and mortar fire. The use of kamikaze drones is constantly on the rise. Nevertheless, thanks to the professional and coordinated actions of our soldiers, the enemy sustains significant losses and cannot achieve their objectives," Syrskyi emphasized.

The commander also reported that he had been working with the commanders of military units operating in the areas where the enemy's main forces are concentrated. This is to ensure a swift response to enemy actions and develop effective methods to combat them.

"After a detailed examination of the characteristics and the enemy's methods of operation, we discussed all possible ways to employ our forces. We planned our future work. Of course, one can plan various actions, but their effectiveness primarily depends on the courage and resilience of our soldiers, as well as their level of professional training. Therefore, I always place the moral component and the readiness of our servicemen to fulfill their tasks at the forefront," Oleksandr Syrskyi emphasized.

He added that he seizes every opportunity to interact with the soldiers and "express words of respect for their exceptionally effective and incredibly challenging combat work." Furthermore, he awarded the best among them with honors, valuable gifts, and monetary rewards.

"Our soldiers are true heroes. I am proud to have the honor of standing with them, defending the independence of our state. We continue to defeat the enemy on all fronts. We continually plan active operations and the liberation of occupied territories. Victory will be ours!" Syrskyi stated.
