Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, briefed allies at the Ukraine–NATO Council meeting on the operational situation at the front and highlighted a shortage of air defense systems.

Syrskyi wrote about this on Facebook.

“In my address to Alliance colleagues, I reported on the operational situation at the front, which remains difficult,” the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated.

He noted that despite peace initiatives, Russia has not abandoned its war efforts.

“Despite peace initiatives and all partner efforts, Moscow continues its aggressive war and pursues its primary strategic goal – the destruction of Ukrainian statehood,” he emphasized.

Syrskyi also informed that Russia has deployed a combined force of more than 715,000 personnel in its war against Ukraine.

He also emphasized that Russia continues to carry out massive strikes on Ukraine’s rear areas.

“Russia continues to launch missile and air strikes on critical economic infrastructure, primarily targeting the energy sector, attempting to impact Ukrainians in the rear with darkness and cold,” explained the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Syrskyi paid particular attention to the needs of Ukraine’s air defense.

“I informed my NATO colleagues that the most critical need for Ukraine is strengthening its air shield,” he stressed, adding that the significant shortfall in air defense systems prevents full protection of civilians and critical infrastructure.

He briefed partners on the Armed Forces’ needs and expressed gratitude for their support. According to him, partners confirmed their readiness to provide further assistance.

He also emphasized that Ukraine’s key task remains enhancing defensive capabilities.

“Our top priority must continue to be creating conditions for a just peace by strengthening our military capabilities,” concluded the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
