During her visit to the United States, First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska visited a social center for people with disabilities and familiarized herself with the work of SEEC, an organization that provides services to individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities, helping young people with employment, socialization, and recreation.

The President's wife visited the family of Amanda Kindrick, a girl who receives services from SEEC and, despite a severe illness, has been able to socialize thanks to the organization's support.

"Every person has the right to decent living and development conditions. Over 300,000 Ukrainians have officially received disability status since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Due to Russian crimes, this number increases daily. We must create an inclusive society with equal opportunities for all," said the First Lady.

During a roundtable with SEEC CEO Karen Lee and Maryland Secretary of Disabilities Carol Beatty, Olena Zelenska spoke about Ukraine's Barrier-Free Strategy until 2030.

"This year, we have begun implementing all policies and standards in communities. Spaces, transportation, services, and information must be accessible and inclusive for all residents. City councils are developing their own action plans, and the first documents have already been approved in over 200 communities," reported the First Lady.

She emphasized that successful international experience, particularly in employment and support for young people with disabilities, is especially important for Ukraine.

"Our society will emerge from the war imposed by Russia stronger and more humane because we are doing everything to achieve this," noted Olena Zelenska.
