Russian forces dropped an aerial bomb on people during pension distribution in the village of Yarova in Donetsk region. As a result of the attack, more than 20 people were killed.
This was reported by the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
"A brutally savage Russian airstrike on the village of Yarova in Donetsk region. Directly on people. Ordinary civilians. At the very moment when pensions were being distributed. According to preliminary information, the number of dead is more than 20. There are no words… My condolences to all the families and loved ones of the victims," Zelensky said.
He stressed that such Russian attacks must not go unanswered by the international community.
"Russians continue to destroy lives but avoid new, strong sanctions and decisive blows. The world must not stay silent. The world must not remain inactive. We need a response from the United States. We need a response from Europe. We need a response from the G20. Strong actions are needed to make Russia stop bringing death," the president added.
According to Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, at least 21 people were killed and as many wounded as a result of the strike on Yarova.
"Rescuers, medics, police, and local authorities are currently working at the scene. We are helping the victims and establishing the exact consequences of this crime. I will provide updates as more information becomes available," he added.

In Yarova, the number of dead has risen to 23, with 18 wounded after a strike on a pension distribution point, according to the Lyman administration.
Most of the victims are pensioners.
Following the tragedy, the administration announced that pension and parcel distribution will be moved "to safer locations."
