The German arms manufacturer Rheinmetall announced on Tuesday another order from the Bundeswehr to supply over 150,000 artillery rounds, with the ammunition destined for Ukraine.
The company made this announcement on its website.
This order is the third within the framework agreement for the supply of 155mm artillery ammunition that Rheinmetall entered into in July. The agreement, which is valid until 2029, encompasses a potential value of approximately 1.2 billion euros.
Under the current order, Rheinmetall is expected to deliver over 100,000 155mm rounds, as well as additional high-explosive fragmentation shells (DM 121).
"Although the order is placed by the German government, all the ammunition is intended for Ukraine," the company specifies, adding that the first "tens of thousands" of rounds will be manufactured by the end of this year, with the rest scheduled for production in 2024.
The specific value of the order is not disclosed, but Rheinmetall describes it as in the "hundreds of millions of euros in the mid-range."
