Russian troops launched a night attack on the south of Ukraine on January 2, using Shahed kamikaze drones.
The air defense forces effectively responded to the targets. During the attack, Russian forces launched two waves of drones with a pause of over three hours between them, lasting approximately one hour for the first wave and five hours for the second.
Anti-aircraft defense units successfully downed 6 Shahed-131/136 drones:
3 in the Mykolaiv region,
2 in the Dnipropetrovsk region,
1 in the Kherson region.
In Mykolaiv, the debris from a downed UAV caused a fire in garages, which emergency services promptly extinguished. There were no casualties.
