Russia is massively recruiting young women in South Africa to work at a plant producing combat drones, which has prompted the country’s government to issue a public warning to its citizens about the risks.
This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation under Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council on Facebook.
The “Alabuga” Special Economic Zone is actively running an advertising campaign to recruit workers from African and Asian countries, promising high salaries and career prospects. In reality, it involves employment at a military factory manufacturing drones used for strikes against Ukraine.
Notably, Russia uses BRICS structures to search for workers. According to the Center, the Kremlin employs an international organization it portrays as a tool for economic development and peaceful cooperation to achieve its military objectives.
This, they note, demonstrates the Kremlin’s true attitude toward Africa — viewing it as a source of resources, including human ones.
“Despite Russia’s propaganda in Africa about allegedly fighting colonialism and opposing the West, in practice, Russia reproduces colonial practices by exploiting vulnerable groups in African countries,” the Center stressed
