Russian troops continue their attempts to entrench themselves in the island areas of the Dnipro River, according to a report from the press service of Operational Command South.

On the night of August 6, Russian forces launched another drone strike using Shahed-131/136 kamikaze UAVs against civilian infrastructure in southern Ukraine. Fortunately, there were no casualties or damage to residential buildings.

Russian activity was particularly intense over the past 24 hours. More than 215 shelling incidents were recorded across Mykolaiv, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions, with roughly 1,000 munitions fired. In the Prydniprovske direction, Russian troops made a failed attempt to approach Ukrainian defensive positions and sustained losses.

In the Huliaipole sector, a Russian assault near Temyrivka was unsuccessful, while in the Orikhiv sector, Russian forces twice attempted to storm Ukrainian positions near Stepove and Plavni but were repelled.

In total, Russian forces launched 520 kamikaze drone attacks and dropped munitions 185 times. They also carried out two airstrikes on critical infrastructure and residential areas in Kherson region, using five guided bombs and 30 unguided rockets. 8 civilians were injured in Kherson due to the strikes.

Early this morning, a Russian missile strike hit Zaporizhzhia district. Two people were killed, and ten others were wounded, including four children. At least nine buildings were damaged, and emergency services are working at the scene.

Ukrainian defense forces continue to inflict significant losses on Russian troops. Over the past day, they eliminated 52 Russian soldiers, destroyed 14 artillery systems, a "Partisan" multiple launch rocket system, 47 vehicles, a radar station, 32 Shahed-type drones, five reconnaissance drones (including Zala and Supercam), 18 motorcycles, a generator, a solar panel, four communication antennas, 49 shelters, two observation posts, and three field ammunition depots.
