The Russians launched a missile strike on Odessa. This happened during the visit of President Volodymyr Zelensky and the Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis; they witnessed the explosion.
According to the Greek Prime Minister, the strike occurred while he and Zelensky were in the port.
Zelensky emphasized that such strikes indicate the need to strengthen defense, primarily referring to air defense. He mentioned that Ukraine is "gradually strengthening, but slower than desired."
"At the end of the visit (to the port), we heard an air raid siren and powerful explosions nearby. It's a striking experience, we understand that this war concerns everyone and pleases no one," emphasized Mitsotakis.
The missile strike by Russian terrorists on Odessa on March 6 is not related to President Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to the city. This was reported by the spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine, Natalia Humeniuk, on Radio Liberty.
"What is happening is that Russia is a terrorist, and it is evidently continuing attacks on the port infrastructure. So, there was a missile strike on Odessa, presumably with ballistic weapons, hitting one of the buildings in the port infrastructure. But this is in no way related to the specific visit. It is related to the terror that the enemy is methodically conducting," said Humeniuk.
As a result of the attack, there are casualties. This was stated by the spokesperson for the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Dmytro Pletenchuk, in a comment to RBC-Ukraine.
"The enemy struck the port infrastructure of the city. There are five casualties," he said.
According to him, the number of wounded as a result of the Russian attack is still being clarified.
At the same time, Ukrainian law enforcement agencies are conducting investigative actions to establish all the circumstances of the Russian military crime.
