At the Russian airfield Mozdok there are six Tu-22M3 strategic bombers deployed. This constitutes one-fifth of the Russian fleet.

This information was reported by Defense Express.

Additionally, the airfield houses four Su-24M/MR aircraft and approximately 20 helicopters of various types. It is noted that the Russians have painted silhouettes of fake Tu-22M3 and Su-24M/MR aircraft.

Satellite images, made publicly available, were posted on Twitter by an OSINT analyst under the pseudonym Evergreen Intel.

As reported by Defense Express, this information is crucial from multiple perspectives. According to reports from the Russian Air Force, they have regularly employed supersonic Kh-22 cruise missiles launched from the Tu-22M3 bombers for mass strikes on Ukraine over the past month: five such missiles were used on March 22, three on March 28, and six during the strike on April 19 (resulting in the destruction of two Kh-22 missiles).

Furthermore, on April 19, 2024, the Ukrainian Armed Forces shot down one Tu-22M3. Judging by the location of the crash site of this aircraft, it is likely that it was indeed flying to the Mozdok airfield.

If we consider the fact that the Russian Aerospace Forces have only 30 Tu-22M3 bombers in service, it appears that the Russian military has concentrated at least one-fifth of this aircraft fleet at just one airfield, as reported by Defense Express.
