The most attractive area for American businesses in Ukraine at the moment is the defense sector, including projects that can be considered dual-use technologies.

This was stated in Washington by Valeriy Krasovskyi, co-founder and CEO of leading Ukrainian IT company Sigma Software.

"Of course, it’s the defense sector. This is a unique experience we have right now. No one else has this kind of experience," he said in response to a question about which sectors or areas American entrepreneurs are most interested in within Ukraine.

Krasovskyi clarified that Western partners are particularly interested in the new technologies and innovations Ukraine is using in defense — including those that fall under the category of dual-use technologies.

"In addition, (Western) companies are very interested in Ukrainian specialists, Ukrainian engineers, because partners are well aware of our efficiency," he added.

The conversation with the Sigma Software CEO took place on the sidelines of the international AI+ Expo 2025 forum in Washington, D.C., where he participated in the panel discussion "Innovation Under Fire: How Ukrainian Technologies Contribute to the Fight for Freedom." The panel was organized by the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC) in cooperation with Diia.City Union and the Embassy of Ukraine in the United States.

"The main message we want to convey here is that you can work with us — and do it brilliantly," Krasovskyi said.

In this context, he emphasized that virtually none of the Ukrainian companies, particularly in the IT sector, that worked with foreign clients lost productivity since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

"So, if we can work efficiently during wartime, just imagine how we can perform under peaceful conditions," he noted.

Krasovskyi also shared that together with his partners, he is trying to encourage Americans to invest more in tech companies founded by Ukrainians. This includes, he said, companies registered in the United States so that American investors can be confident their rights are protected.
