Ukraine proves every day that it does not leave its citizens in trouble. From the second half of March until today, by order of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, 9 exchanges of prisoners and hostages took place.

As a result, more than 320 citizens have already returned home, of which 59 are civilians. Among those who managed to return home were servicemen, including the wounded. In particular, a military border guard from the Snake Island Roman Gribov, author of a legendary phrase that indicated the direction of the Russian ship, went home. Also, many women have been released, one of whom is expecting a child.

Ukraine's struggle for its citizens continues. According to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk, the state remembers everyone in Russian captivity. It does everything possible and impossible to liberate them.

It will be recalled that today more than 1,000 civilian Ukrainians (including more than 500 women) are being held in Russia, whom the occupiers have taken hostage.

These include journalists, activists, volunteers, opinion leaders, and priests. As of May 2, 2022, the following people were kidnapped and detained:

  • 41 activist / volunteer;
  • 3 journalists;
  • 41 representatives of state authorities or local self-government;
  • 4 religious figures.
