The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) detained another FSB agent in Kherson. He was a 26-year-old city hospital nurse recruited by the Russian forces, who coordinated Russian airstrikes on the regional center and its outskirts.
Key Russian targets included backup command posts, logistics warehouses, air defense positions, and Ukrainian military checkpoints. The Russian forces also sought from the agent the coordinates of defensive lines approaching the city to plan combined attacks with kamikaze drones and heavy aerial bombs.
According to case materials, the suspect collected intelligence during his commutes to and from work. As a passenger on a minibus, he filmed locations of Ukrainian defenders with his phone. Then, directly at his workplace in the medical facility, he marked military coordinates on Google Maps and “reported” them to the FSB via messenger.
SSU officers exposed the agent, documented his intelligence activities, and carried out comprehensive measures to secure Defense Forces’ positions. At the final stage of the special operation, the Security Service detained him.
The investigation found that the medic was recruited by the Russian forces through a former neighbor who, after Kherson’s liberation, moved to Russia and collaborated with the FSB. During searches, the detained man’s smartphone was seized with evidence of espionage activities for the aggressor country.
The SSU has charged him under Part 3, Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unauthorized dissemination of information about the movement, deployment, or location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine).
He is currently in custody and faces up to 12 years in prison.
