Cybersecurity experts from the Security Service have detained another FSB agent who was collecting intelligence on the Defense Forces and critical infrastructure in the Kyiv region.
The perpetrator attempted to locate the bases of the Ukrainian Air Force. He was also interested in the routes and intensity of flights of Ukrainian military aircraft. To gather intelligence, the Russian agent settled for several days in a rented apartment near the local airfield. At the same time, the culprit surveyed the geolocations of Ukrainian Air Defense complexes and determined the accuracy of enemy "approaches" to energy facilities.
SSU officers apprehended the perpetrator "in the act" while conducting reconnaissance near an energy-generating enterprise in Kyiv. According to the investigation, the hostile accomplice turned out to be an 18-year-old resident of the capital. Several months ago, the young man was remotely recruited by an FSB personnel officer, whose identity has already been identified by the Security Service.
The Kyivan fell under the aggressor's radar due to his activity on pro-Kremlin Telegram channels, where he approved armed aggression against Ukraine. Subsequently, the agent communicated with his Russian handler through an anonymous chat on a popular messenger. For executing hostile tasks, the traitor received money from the FSB, which was deposited into his bank card.
During searches at the detainee's residence, a mobile phone and a computer with evidence of his correspondence with the Russian special services were seized. Additionally, a bank card, where funds from the FSB were deposited, was found.
Currently, SSU investigators have informed the perpetrator of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason committed under conditions of martial law). The culprit is in custody. He faces life imprisonment.
