As a result of the rocket strike by Russian forces on the Kyiv hospital Okhmatdyt, two people have died, with over 50 injured. Significant damage has been reported to multiple departments in the new building. Kyiv City Administration reported this on Telegram.
"As of now, due to the attack on Okhmatdyt, there are confirmed reports of 2 deaths and over 50 injured. The deceased include a doctor and a relative of one of the patients at the medical facility. Seven children were wounded, with 4 of them hospitalized," the statement said.
The Kyiv City Administration notes that these figures are not final and will be updated as the rescue operation continues.
At the time of the rocket attack on Okhmatdyt, there were over 600 patients and at least as many hospital staff present. Evacuation of patients is ongoing.
"The toxicology department with chronic and acute intoxication units (where children receive dialysis) of the National Children's Specialized Hospital 'Okhmatdyt' has been completely destroyed. In the old surgical building, almost all windows were shattered, and significant damage was inflicted on two surgical and two somatic departments, intensive care units, and the operating theater. In the newly constructed building, recently completed, 12 departments were damaged, including 8 surgical, 5 oncological, two intensive care units, the operating theater, radiology, and radiation therapy departments," clarified the Kyiv City Administration.
Also lost was a portion of the country's only oncological-hematological laboratory.
