On the night of August 22, the Security Service of Ukraine together with the Special Operations Forces (SSO) attacked the Marinovka airfield in Volgograd region, Russia. Satellite images of the aftermath have appeared online.
According to OSINT researcher MT Anderson on Twitter (X), the satellite images reveal severe damage at the airfield, including destroyed hangars where Russian aircraft may have been stationed. Explosions were reported in Volgograd region on the night of August 22, and Russians complained about a drone attack. There were also reports of a fire at the Marinovka airfield.
The attack targeted warehouses with GABs and fuel. A fire and explosions occurred at the airbase.
Satellites captured three fire hotspots at the airfield, one of which was in the area where Russian aircraft could have been stationed.
It is worth noting that the Marinovka airfield is the only airfield in Russia where shelters for aircraft have been built.
