The Swiss government has decided not to revoke temporary protection for Ukrainians. It has been extended until March 4, 2025, as reported by the Swiss government press service.
"The continued stability of the situation in Ukraine is not anticipated. Therefore, the protection status 'S' for those seeking protection from Ukraine will not be revoked before March 4, 2025," the press service stated.
Specifically, the country has set a goal to integrate more people with protection status into the labor market, aiming to employ 40% of them, up from the current 20%, by the end of the next year.
As of October this year, approximately 66,000 Ukrainians have protection status in Switzerland.
"The protective status 'S' remains in effect until the Federal Council revokes it. The condition for revocation is a sustained stabilization of the situation in Ukraine," the press service added.
