As a result of repatriation efforts, the bodies of 1,212 fallen defenders have been returned to Ukraine.

This was reported on Telegram by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

Among the defenders returned "on the shield" are those who fell in Russia’s Kursk region, as well as in the Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions.

The return of the fallen soldiers was made possible thanks to the joint efforts of staff from the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the Joint Center of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Office of the Ombudsman of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Missing Persons under Special Circumstances, the State Emergency Service, and other structures of the Security and Defense Sector of Ukraine.

The Coordination Headquarters expressed gratitude to the International Committee of the Red Cross for its assistance and extended special thanks to the personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who transport the repatriated fallen heroes to designated state specialized institutions, and organize the transfer of the deceased to representatives of law enforcement agencies within the Ministry of Internal Affairs and forensic medical examination services within the Ministry of Health.

Law enforcement investigators, together with expert institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will identify the fallen in the shortest possible time.
