As a result of repatriation efforts, the bodies of 1,000 deceased individuals have been returned to Ukraine.

This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War on Telegram. According to the Russian side, the remains belong to Ukrainian citizens, including servicemembers.

The return was made possible through the joint efforts of the Coordination Headquarters, the Joint Center under the Security Service of Ukraine, the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Office of the Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights, the Secretariat for Missing Persons under Special Circumstances, the State Emergency Service, and other entities within the security and defense sector.

Law enforcement investigators, in cooperation with expert units of the Interior Ministry, will carry out the necessary examinations and identification of the repatriated bodies.

The Coordination Headquarters expressed gratitude to the International Committee of the Red Cross for its assistance.

“Special thanks go to the personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who transport the remains to designated specialized state institutions, and organize the handover of the deceased to law enforcement representatives within the Interior Ministry and forensic services of the Health Ministry,” the statement said.
