On Monday, September 18, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dismissed all deputy ministers of defense, as well as the State Secretary of the Ministry. In particular, those who were relieved of their duties include Hanna Malyar.

This move comes following a change in the leadership of the ministry. The deputy ministers of defense who were dismissed are Volodymyr Havrylov, Rostyslav Zamlynsky, Anna Maliar, Denys Sharapov, and Andriy Shevchenko.

Additionally, Vitaliy Deyneha and Kostyantyn Vashchenko, who held the position of Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine for Digital Development, Digital Transformation, and Digitization, were also relieved of their duties, along with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

On September 5, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported the resignation of Oleksiy Reznikov from the position of Minister of Defense of Ukraine. According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Ministry of Defense requires new approaches and different formats of interaction both with the military and with society as a whole.

On September 6, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved the appointment of Rustem Umеrov as the Minister of Defense. Previously, he held the position of the head of the State Property Fund.

Umеrov has stated that as the Minister of Defense, he will implement NATO standards and digitize military records, including the Armed Forces' inventory management.
