The Central Bank of the Russian Federation, which finances the armed aggression against Ukraine, has become a target of Ukrainian hackers. The attack on the financial institution is intensifying.

Sources in the special services told RBC-Ukraine about this.

According to the sources, since about 11:00 local time, the resources of the Central Bank of Russia have been operating with significant disruptions or are completely unavailable to users. The financial institution acknowledges the cyber strike and notes that "the intensity of the attack is increasing."

Additionally, Russian users cannot access the online services of Zenit Bank and Gazprombank. The situation is further complicated by the lack of stable internet, as the largest telecommunications providers in Russia are also experiencing systematic cyberattacks. In particular, the attack targets the provider MTS, whose users have been unable to fully utilize services for three days.

According to the sources, the operation against the financial institutions of the aggressor state is ongoing.

The Central Bank of the Russian Federation (Bank of Russia) is the primary bank of the first tier, the main issuing and monetary-credit institution of the Russian Federation. It develops and implements, in cooperation with the Russian government, a unified state monetary-credit policy and is endowed with special powers, including the right to issue currency and regulate the activities of banks.

The Bank of Russia, acting as the main coordinating and regulating body of the entire credit system of the country, serves as an economic management authority. It oversees the activities of credit organizations, issues and revokes their licenses to conduct banking operations, while these credit organizations work with other legal entities and individuals.
