Freight rates for grain transportation from Danube river ports continued to decrease this week, and handysize rates from the ports of Odessa also declined. Meanwhile, the panamax market continued to strengthen.

As of November 30, corn freight rates for coaster vessels (6,000 tons) from the ports of Reni and Izmail to Spain decreased by $4/ton to $41-42/ton. Rates to the Sea of Marmara decreased by $3/ton to $27/ton, to the eastern coast of Greece by $2-3/ton to $30-32/ton. Freight to the eastern Mediterranean, the eastern coast of Italy, and Seville, Spain, dropped by $2/ton to $36-38/ton, $38-40/ton, and $46-48/ton, respectively. Maximum rates to Israel decreased by $2/ton, while minimum rates remained unchanged, resulting in freight to this region being $43-46/ton.
Freight rates for barge transportation to Constanta remained the same as the previous week at €21-22/ton for corn and €40/ton for sunflower seeds.
Freight for corn on handysize vessels decreased by $1/ton, reaching $39-40/ton to the Mediterranean coast of Egypt, $41-42/ton to Italy, $43-44/ton to the Mediterranean coast of Spain, and $44-45/ton to Tunisia.
However, freight rates for corn on panamax vessels from Odessa, Pivdennyi, and Chornomorsk to China increased by $3/ton to $75-78/ton. Rates to the Mediterranean coast of Spain ranged from $45-47/ton. The increase in rates for the transportation of grain on panamax vessels from Ukrainian deep-sea ports was influenced by the strengthening of rates in neighboring segments of the freight market, maintaining competition at a high level, according to experts.
