Approximately 6,000 men of conscription age depart from Ukraine across the entire stretch of the western border within a day. This information was provided by the head of the Border Control Organization Department of the Western Regional Administration of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Colonel Igor Matviychuk.
According to him, within the 'Shlyakh' (Path) system, 150-200 individuals, including drivers of freight transport, escorts for persons with disabilities, as well as individuals with disabilities, and men raising three or more children, depart daily as volunteers.
It is noteworthy that among those leaving, there is a higher number of drivers of freight transport, individuals accompanying persons with disabilities, as well as persons with disabilities themselves, and fathers raising three or more children.
"In the legislation, the control system and the possibility of controlling individuals accompanying a person with disabilities are not detailed. In other words, one person with a disability may be accompanied by different individuals at different times based on an act establishing the fact of care, which is issued to anyone and is not protected; it can be falsified. Therefore, several individuals may accompany one person with a disability, and it is impossible to verify whether the previous individuals have returned. This system requires improvement. The Ministry of Social Policy needs to address this issue," noted Matviychuk.
Additionally, a significant portion of men leaving the country have certificates of unfitness for military service.
