The authority of President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine is automatically extended until new elections can be held in the country. Currently, holding elections is impossible due to the imposition of martial law.
This information has been reported by the Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security on Telegram.
• According to the current legislation of Ukraine, elections scheduled during the period of martial law will be postponed until its conclusion.
• The mandates of the President and Parliament of Ukraine officially continue until new elections are held and power is transferred to the newly elected officials.
• Martial law is not a whim but an objective reality, associated with full-scale Russian aggression, temporary occupation of a quarter of Ukraine's territory, and a military threat to all its citizens.
• Ukrainian elections should not be unfairly compared to Russian pseudo-elections, which have nothing to do with genuine expression of will and democracy.
• In the current circumstances, ensuring the security of elections and the representation of voters is physically impossible. Therefore, the existing legislation corresponds to the objective realities of war.
