In the conditions of Russia's military aggression, Odessa farmers continue to work tirelessly on their native land to provide Ukraine with bread. Despite the Russian shelling, the first million tons of grain have already been collected in the Odessa region. This was reported by Alla Stoyanova, Director of the Department of Agrarian Policy, Food and Land Relations of Odessa region.

"Today, official statistics show more than 1.5 million tons have been threshed. But behind the dry numbers is the hard work of our farmers, on whom the country's food security now depends," Alla Stoyanova emphasized.

As the head of the Department of Agriculture notes, the farmers of Odessa are now defending the agrarian front, thanks to which, as of July 20, 2022, during the harvesting of grains and legumes in the Odessa region, there are data that 588.127 hectares were threshed, and 1500.98 thousand tons were threshed. The average yield is 25.5 t/ha.

In addition, according to Alla Stoyanova, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has launched a new project worth 17 million dollars to help Ukrainian farmers preserve their harvest and ensure the export of the most important agricultural products to international markets.

"The goal of this project is to restore grain storage capacity and the functionality of supply chains - from harvest to export. As well as preserving the production potential of Ukrainian farmers to ensure the continuity of production in the future. In addition, there is a national project, "eRobota", which provides grant support to the agricultural sector. Details and detailed consultation can be obtained from our department specialists," - noted Alla Stoyanova.
