The first Ramstein meeting with the new Minister of Defense of Ukraine will be led by the U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the U.S. General Mark Milley. This was officially announced during a press briefing by the Deputy Pentagon Spokesperson Sabrina Singh on Thursday.
The U.S. military leadership will travel to Germany on Monday, September 18, to chair the meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine in the Ramstein format. The meeting is scheduled for September 19.
"This will be the 15th meeting since Secretary Austin formed the international group. The Secretary and Chairman Milley will join defense ministers and senior military representatives from nearly 50 countries," noted the spokesperson of the U.S. Department of Defense.
It's worth noting that this will be the first personal meeting between the Minister of Defense of Ukraine and the U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin since his appointment to the position.
