The government formed an organizational committee to prepare and hold events in connection with Ukraine's 90th anniversary of the Holodomor of 1932-1933. The Cabinet of Ministers adopted the relevant resolution drafted by the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy at its meeting on July 15.

The Government's decision will make it possible to properly organize and hold events for the 90th anniversary of the Holodomor of 1932-1933 - the genocide of the Ukrainian people and to honor the memory of the victims of the Holodomor of the first half of the 20th century in Ukraine.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine, the Vice-Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, and the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine have been appointed co-chairs of the organizing committee. In addition, it will include scientists, representatives of public associations, central and local bodies of executive power, and territorial communities.

"In 1932-1933, the communist regime committed a particularly grave crime of genocide against the Ukrainian people. Its organizers created not only a system for the destruction of millions of Ukrainians, but also a mechanism for hiding the consequences of the crime from the public and the international community. Today, unfortunately, history is repeating itself, and Russia, as the legal successor of the Soviet Union, is once again committing genocide against the Ukrainian people. As then, as now, the very fact of the existence of Ukrainians is the reason for it," said Oleksandr Tkachenko, Minister of Culture and Information Policy.
