On the sidelines of the G7 Summit, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with President of the Italian Council of Ministers Giorgia Meloni.
The Head of State thanked for the unwavering position of Italy in the issues of military, financial and humanitarian support for Ukraine.
The parties agreed on further steps in defense cooperation. In particular, Italy's contribution to the development of the Ukrainian air defense system and the preparation of a new defense package. Volodymyr Zelensky outlined Ukraine's current defense needs for armored vehicles and long-range weapons.
The President and the Prime Minister discussed the upcoming Peace Summit in Switzerland and shared expectations from it. The Head of State thanked Giorgia Meloni for her active efforts to engage the countries of the Global South in the Summit.
The parties also discussed the implementation of joint projects aimed at helping Ukraine rebuild Odessa and the Odessa region. Volodymyr Zelensky praised Italy's decision to organize the next Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome next year.
