Ukrainian Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, Vitaliy Kovalev, met with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha to discuss the continuation of aid to Syria within the framework of the presidential humanitarian initiative "Grain from Ukraine."
The ministers outlined steps for future deliveries and discussed expanding the range of agricultural products. It was noted that the first shipment of 500 tons of flour has already been sent to Syria with the support of the World Food Programme.
Minister Kovalev also shared that under the "Grain from Ukraine" initiative, Ukraine has already shipped sunflower oil to Mozambique, with nearly 416 tons arriving in early February. An additional 73.4 tons of oil and 970.5 tons of flour are scheduled to reach Djibouti at the end of January. Furthermore, 453 tons of sunflower oil are set to be sent to Tanzania soon.
Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha emphasized that no one in the world should suffer from hunger. While the Kremlin regime exacerbates global crises and is a leading exporter of aggression, terror, and war crimes, Ukraine remains a guarantor of global food security. On President Zelensky's instructions, Ukraine is scaling up the "Grain from Ukraine" initiative into "Food from Ukraine," expanding the range of Ukrainian products and the geography of shipments in collaboration with partners. Efforts are particularly focused on supporting the Syrian people, who have suffered under both Assad and Putin's regimes.
The "Grain from Ukraine" project, launched by President Zelensky, involves purchasing Ukrainian agricultural products with the funds of international partners to help combat hunger worldwide. This initiative not only provides Ukrainian producers with a market for their goods but also ensures that countries in need receive high-quality food.
