As part of the Emergency Recovery Programme between the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Government of Ukraine, municipal enterprises in the cities of Kharkiv, Dnipro, Kherson, and Mykolaiv have received 97 units of heavy equipment to improve services in transportation, water supply, and waste management following the damage.

Additionally, municipal enterprises will be provided with a significant number of generators, pipes, and other essential equipment for restoring basic services.

"Thanks to the grant agreements signed at the beginning of 2023 between the Ministry of Infrastructure and JICA, Ukrainian cities have received this much-needed assistance for their municipal enterprises. We continue to collaborate with the Japanese Government and JICA in the specified areas and hope to expand this cooperation in the future. We will make every effort to ensure that the assistance from the Japanese side is utilized transparently and accountably," said Vasyl Shkurakov, Acting Minister for Communities, Territories, and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine.

The grant agreement for the Emergency Recovery Program between JICA and the Ukrainian Government was signed on March 9, 2023. It provides a grant from the Japanese Government amounting to 22,440,000,000 Japanese yen (approximately 172.75 million USD) for the implementation of the Emergency Recovery Programme.
