In Ukraine, 33 operators of demining activities have been certified, and the number of developments in demining tools is increasing.
First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Yulia Sviridenko, announced this on Facebook.
"The number of demining operators has increased. Currently, 33 operators have been certified. More than 50 are in line for certification. The more operators we have, the more competition there will be in the market. This will reduce the cost of demining and, hopefully, improve its quality," she said.
Sviridenko emphasized the importance of this in the context of launching the humanitarian demining market.
"Through Prozorro, tenders will be announced for demining. Farmers will contribute 20% of the cost, while the remaining 80% will be covered by the state. The operator that offers the lowest price and meets the requirements will win. This programme will start operating in April. Currently, we are finalizing the methodology for determining the cost of humanitarian demining work," Sviridenko noted.
She also mentioned that not only the number of demining operators but also developments in demining tools are increasing.
