The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office of Moldova has charged the head of Gagauzia, Evgeny Gutsul, with receiving illegal financing from the banned party Shor as part of a criminal case on "Illegal Financing of the Former Political Party Shor, Noi reports.

The investigation of the criminal case has been completed, and it is currently at the stage of presenting the materials of the accusation to the defense. After this stage is completed, the case will be referred to court.

If found guilty, Gutsul faces 6 to 10 years of imprisonment, a fine ranging from 300,000 to 400,000 lei, and deprivation of the right to hold certain state positions or engage in certain activities for a period of 7 to 10 years.

It is worth noting that the recent statements by Evgeny Gutsul, the leader of Gagauzia, about the possibility of Gagauzia's separation from Moldova when uniting with Romania, are nothing more than an attempt by the Kremlin to use pro-Russian players in Moldova to destabilize democracy in the country, according to analysts from the Institute for the Study of War.
