The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has initiated licensed production of modern FPV drones at one of the state-owned enterprises.
As part of a pilot project that began in December last year, under the overall coordination of the Main Directorate of Defense Innovations of the Ministry of Defense, the state has gained the ability to manufacture coded FPV drones. Under a trilateral agreement, a private developer provided a license for the production of UAVs at one of the state enterprises managed by the Ministry of Defense.
It is planned that the produced drones will be directed to the Ukrainian Defense Forces. After refining the production technology and scaling it up, the state-owned enterprise will be able to participate independently in tenders from the Defense Procurement Agency and other potential customers.
"The experience has been positive. Thanks to the state's integration into production chains, we now have a clear understanding of the cost of producing drones and our competitive advantages in this market. This will allow us to improve the quality of the finished products through sustained competition," commented Lieutenant General Ivan Havryliuk, First Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine.
Experts from the Main Directorate of Defense Innovations have developed a roadmap for organizing similar production lines with other developers of unmanned aerial systems (UAS). This will significantly increase production capacity to scale up the production of tools for victory.
"We are ready to expand cooperation with private companies. We have a package of template documents and a step-by-step guide for launching similar UAS production lines at other state-owned enterprises," said Yuriy Taranuk, Head of the Main Directorate of Defense Innovations.
