The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has returned a significant quantity of various caliber ammunition to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. These munitions, originally allocated for disposal as surplus even before the onset of Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine in 2014, are now proving invaluable due to increased demand for military resources.
With the start of widespread Russian invasion, the need for ammunition has dramatically risen, necessitating swift decisions regarding their retrieval and use. Thanks to efforts by experts in the Disposal and Utilization Management of Excess Military Property, these munitions, rigorously checked for quality, are now being deployed on the battlefield against Russian forces.
Specifically, these include:
- Artillery shells
- Ammunition for small arms
- Components
- Explosive devices, and more
This process forms part of the Ministry of Defense's efforts to bolster Ukraine's defense capabilities and provide Ukrainian military personnel with essential resources for effective resistance against the aggressor.
Deputy Minister of Defense Yuriy Dzhyhyr remarked,
"We are exploring internal reserves to supply Ukrainian soldiers with ammunition. We understand that today, every shot, rocket, and bullet is vital on the battlefield. Instead of disposing of ammunition, we are 'disposing' of the enemy with it. We are giving it a second life—endeavoring to restore everything that can be repaired and put back into service. Everyone is working to ensure continuous supply of weapons, military equipment, and other necessary means for the defenders of Ukraine."
This proactive approach underscores Ukraine's commitment to maintaining readiness and resilience in the face of ongoing conflict.
