At the NATO Edge 24 exhibition in the USA, Ukraine's Ministry of Defense showcased digital innovations designed to help its military efficiently execute battlefield tasks.

The Innovation and Defense Technology Development Center presented:

  • The DELTA combat system, which aids in operational planning.
  • The Avengers platform, which uses artificial intelligence to identify enemy equipment.
  • Integration capabilities between DELTA and modern weaponry such as MAGURA sea drones, NEMESIS bombers, and the VECTOR reconnaissance UAV.

Lieutenant Colonel Artem Martynenko, Deputy Head of the Innovation Center, shared insights about the use of the Avengers AI platform, which analyzes video data from drones and stationary cameras. He also mentioned that the Innovation Center owns the Universal Military Dataset (UMD), a leading global dataset detailing Russian military equipment.

"Ukraine has been forced to lead in innovation to protect itself and fight a large and ruthless enemy. We didn’t choose this reality, but given the circumstances, we use every opportunity and available resource to create effective solutions. Russia's full-scale invasion gave us access to thousands of photos and videos of enemy equipment. We gathered, organized, and annotated this data. This helped us create a 'factory' for AI models, which became the foundation for developing the Avengers platform," said Artem Martynenko.

Lieutenant Colonel Yelyzaveta Boyko, Head of the Department at the Innovation Center, shared the role of the DELTA system in the successful execution of several combat operations. She highlighted examples such as the sinking of the large amphibious ship Cesar Kunikov and other significant Russian vessels during naval missions, as well as the destruction of a multi-million-dollar enemy air defense system using a $1,000 drone.

“The technologies and solutions we present are not just innovations; they are Ukraine's true shield, helping our soldiers win victories and save lives. We are proud that Ukrainian developments play a key role in the fight for freedom and independence,” said Yelyzaveta Boyko.

The conference organizers expressed their gratitude to Ukraine for the participation of the Ministry of Defense delegation in NATO Edge 24 and for sharing relevant experience from the battlefield. They also emphasized Ukraine's status as a reliable NATO partner.
