The newly appointed interim Minister of Defense of Bulgaria, Atanas Zapryanov, promised to expedite the provision of military assistance to Ukraine.
According to Novinite, speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Zapryanov emphasized the urgency of accelerating the provision of two packages of military aid to Ukraine.
"We will try to speed up aid to Ukraine. Further opportunities for direct military assistance will be considered," he said.
Acknowledging the critical need for swift action, Zapryanov stated that the interim government cannot afford a prolonged period of inactivity and must prioritize increasing the pace of activity.
Highlighting the importance of completing a strategic review of defense, Zapryanov outlined plans to address existing challenges within the armed forces and enhance defense capabilities. Moreover, he reaffirmed Bulgaria's commitment to Euro-Atlantic membership, positioning the country prominently on the Euro-Atlantic map.
