Since October 2022, more than 62,000 Ukrainian military personnel have completed training in EU countries as part of the EUMAM Military Assistance Mission. By the end of the year, this number will increase to 75,000.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced this on Facebook following a meeting with a delegation from the EU Political and Security Committee.
"Since October 2022, more than 62,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been trained in EU countries within the framework of the EUMAM Military Assistance Mission, and by the end of the year, this number will increase to 75,000. I am grateful for the EU ambassadors' decision to extend the mission’s mandate for another two years. Our goal is to make EUMAM even more effective. I emphasized the importance of conducting mission training here in Ukraine, which will significantly speed up the preparation of our defenders," Umerov noted.
He also called on European countries to invest in production directly in Ukraine and assured that Ukraine is ready to enter into long-term contracts and develop joint production of drones, long-range weapons, and ammunition.
