Due to increased export cargo flows, particularly in agricultural and mining products through the ports of Odessa, Yuzhnyi, and Chornomorsk, as well as due to issues with electricity supply, there are risks that these ports may face capacity limitations. Therefore, it is important to work on opening the ports of Olbia and Mykolaiv.

This opinion was expressed by the press service of the Metinvest holding.

"Due to limited capabilities of ports and railway stations, as well as risks of further reduction in capacity due to damage from shelling. Another risk of capacity reduction is the shortage of workers with specialized skills due to mobilization processes," noted Metinvest.

Metinvest emphasizes that the opening of the Mykolaiv ports "will significantly help diversify cargo flows and reduce similar risks." Specialized grain handling terminals "allow maintaining product quality and accordingly can ensure higher prices for products and currency inflows into the country."

However, such a scenario is realistic "provided that certain territories of the Kherson region on the left bank of the Dnipro are de-occupied due to the actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," added Metinvest. This means safe passage for vessels of Bugsko-Dneprovsko-Limansky channel for access to the Black Sea.
